DOULA & CHILDBIRTH SERVICES

If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it." ~John H. Kennell, MD

Doula: a Greek word meaning a woman who helps other women. It has further evolved to mean a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during and after childbirth.

My Doula services include 1-2 Prenatal consultations to write/review birth plan, unlimited phone calls, continual labor support through the birth and breastfeeding is established and 1 post-partum visit. I truly believe that a woman's body has the innate ability to birth her baby, and women have the right to birth the way they way choose without fear. I hope to help women create the positive birth experience they desire by encouraging them to ask questions, educate themselves, and to work towards empowering themselves. Please visit http://www.dona.org/ for up-to-date research and valuable childbirth information about doulas.

In addition to doula services, I highly encourage all parents-to-be to attend Childbirth Education Classes. As a trained B.E.P.A.R.E.N.T.S Childbirth Educator, I believe this evidence-based class offers the parents the tools and resources to have their best birth. Whether you plan a hospital or home birth, knowing the facts and pros and cons to birthing options can empower and prepare the mother. My classes are offering in a group setting, private 1-on1 or via video. Please click on the link below for options and call me for more details. 561-309-4543.

Client Testimonials:

"I didn't get a chance to officially thank Jenn Cohen for her amazing work with me as our Doula. Once she walked in the room, the climate changed completely and I was more focused and determined to deliver our baby. Her guidance, instruction, and support made it possible for me to have a drug free birth. Before she got there I was begging for an epidural, but I was already 7cm dilated when I got to the hospital, as I was birthing at home. The midwife said that an epidural at that point would be counterproductive & ineffective. Thank you so much Jenn for helping make our birth as smooth as possible. We are forever grateful!"~ Sara

"I am a first time mother who researched, read up, and spoke to anyone that would listen about childbirth. When I finally learned about a doula coach and what they provide, I felt lucky and blessed to have Jenn Cohen by my side for her practicum. The knowledge (and motherly experience) she shared with my husband and myself added a great deal of calmness to my birth. She was always around for advice and early morning phone calls prelabor. During delivery, she became my support and stronghold, coaching me and my family thru my labor. She literally saved me from an epidural I did not want (but cried for in transition) and had me stick to my birth plan, which myself and my child will be forever grateful for. Post partum, she was a strong ally- helping my little boy latch for his first feeding and even driving us home from the hospital! Our family will always have an additional member with Jenn and the amazing warmth she showed to us!"~ Laura

"Jenn was a vital part of my labor and delivery by providing emotional support" ~ Jackie

"It was great having someone there to help get me through my labor" ~ Sarah

"With this being my first pregnancy and not sure what to expect, my husband and I felt great relief knowing we had Jenn as our Doula. We were unsure of what to expect during the pregnancy, labor, delivery, birth and thereafter. She prepared us with great tips, research, ideas, and resources to help us further understand this process during and after our daughter's birth. Her support during labor was much needed and appreciated. She always maintained a great professionalism, kind spirit, and support that both my husband and I needed during this very strenuous time. I would highly recommend Jenn as a Doula for anyone who is having a baby. Even for those who may know what to expect, at that moment when it is happening you truly need a calming helping hand. I am grateful she was there for us and we all benefited from the experience." ~ Dawn

"Thank you Jenn for being a part of one of the most amazing experiences of our life. We knew a hospital birth was the right fit for our family based on our past birthing history but we also knew that the "common" birth protocols that take place in hospitals was not. For this reason we felt a doula was absolutely essential if we wanted to fulfill this desire to have a natural, intervention-free birth in a hospital environment.  Jenn was patient and knowledgeable with answering our very long list of questions during our prenatal meetings. She was essential in giving us the confidence we needed to go into the hospital and have the birth we wanted. Even during the difficult moments when the nurse strongly suggested I take something  for pain, Jenn  stood by my side to remind me of my goal of a drug-free birth. I felt incredibly comfortable and blessed by her presence and could not imagine having gone through this amazing journey without her." ~ Melissa
